Shenmue 3? (I know there are some Shenmue fans here.)

A forum to talk about stuff that doesn't fit in other categories, such as general Kojima games discussion, other games, etc.

Apparently this is a very reliable site, enough to get all the large Shenmue sites (including the Shenmue Dojo) excited.

I can't say i'm that happy or such, i loved Shenmue, it was an amazing game, but for some reason i never really liked Shenmue 2, i find it strange now thinking about it, perhaps i should get a copy for the X-Box and give it another try

Shenmue did such a good job of recreating Japan... The streets, the shops, the capsule machines. If you want to know what walking down an street in a Japanese city is like, play Shenmue! I haven't played it since I returned from my time there, but it should be interesting.

Shenmue Online has been shelved for the time being. Chances are it will stay that way, but if SIII sells well enough, maybe they'll bring it back to the light.

Development of Shenmue Online was stopped in May, but Sega supposedly transferred the project to a "unnamed development studio located in Taiwan." The game was being worked on by a Korean based online game maker called JC Entertainment. One employee there stated that Shenmue Online had been cancelled.

There has also been reports that the partnership between Sega and JC Entertainment, each owning half the intellectual rights to Shenmue Online, came to a bitter end, although neither side wants a legal battle.

There's another Shenmueish type game that Sega is currently working on for the PS2 called "Ryuga Gotoku".
Except it's more Yakuza related, but judging from the screen caps I saw at fami & magic box

http://www.the-magicbox.com/0508/game050823a.shtml
It actually looks good unlike that fruity Frame city killer.
As long as I get to recreate "Ichi the Killer" style murders than I'll be content with this title.

That would be cool, though i doubt they would make a game like that because it would be used against Sega and Videogames due to its violence, like Manhunt was

You mean like Ichi the killer or a gta style Yakuza game?
The free roaming Yakuza game is officialy being worked on by Sega.
You're right though I doubt it would be anywhere near as violent as Ichi the Killer.
If it were Jack Thompson would say
"The japanese are trying to teach our kids how to become sadisticly, profesionally trained killer masochistic yakuza!!!"

True, but than again almost anything can cause a uproar these days.
Look at the Killer 7 controversy awhile back, because of the tame PG-13 sex scene.
Which is quite ironic since Killer 7 does deserve notoreity for it's over the top violence & excessive use of coarse language, but for some reason it was the orgasm
scene that ended up being the tip of the iceburg.
Or that other time Jack Thompson held a crusade against Will Wright's The SIMS 2.
Mr. Thompson concluded that The SIMS targetted demographic is catering to pedophiles, because you can undress the SIMS even the children or whatever wild accusation Jacky boy claimed.
(Hey,hey don't look at me wierd. I'm not the one that comes up with this ish. The government official Jack Thompson is the one with the disturbed mind.)
Just like the time Jack Thompson held a crusade against Rockstar for the game Bully, because he calaimed that Bully is teaching it's players how to become a bully......LOL.

I'm expecteing the sega yakuza game to be like a grown up version of river city ransom.
What they lack in Firepower (Japan has strict gun control laws.) they'll make up for it in sheer brutality.
Either way you look at it Ryuga Gotoku is bound to cause controversy.
It's about Yakuza, not the western interpretation of what a Yakuza is (Hitman 2 Silent Assassin),but the true genuine article.
They have heavy prostitution rings & a monopoly on adult entertainment & weapon smuggling.

P.S.
Sorry about going off subject. Though the game does sound a bit Shenmueish & is developed in house by sega.
This looks like what I wanted the Virtua Fighter RPG to be like.

I was talking about Ichi the Killer, but that Jack fella is abit of an idiot, one of Rockstars main parts of the game Bully is standing upto Bullys, but anyway, i would love if the game was like Ichi, but there is no chance
