Insane MTV shows? Whats your views?

Post by randomwab »

Very very VERY much off topic here, but i was just wondering what people thought of all the MTV shows that have came out of the ashes of Jackass, like Viva La Bam, Wildboys, Dirty Sanchez, ect, and Jackass itself, and if anyone has seen them, the CKY videos.
Personally, I loved Jackass, though it is completely played out now, i have seen it to much, though the movie is still genius. I love Viva La Bam, the only real thing i like from the aftermath of Jackass, Wildboys and Dirty Sanchez just dont appeal to me. The CKYs are also great, though again, i have seen them to often. Anyway, what are your views on these shows?

I think out of those post Jackass shows, Wild Boys is the only one that is halfway decent. It's mostly rehash but at least they're doing in it different countries so it's at least a bit of a learning experience.

Your role as Grammar Policenaut is simply not panning out I'm afraid, another post from you and another mistake. If you don't buck your ideas up I may be forced to delete any posts you make that aren't up to scratch, or change your title myself.

Remember when MTV showed music videos?

I mean MTV2 was supposed to be all videos all the time to counter the fact that MTV was showing more TV series than videos. I can't remember the last time I watched MTV except when they were showing Beavis and Butthead.

But then again, most music they show (WAY too much hip hop) nowadays sucks anyway, so maybe they are doing us a favor.

Indeed, I did happen to notice the same trend. It is unfortunate all tv channels have followed the same path and went into "reality shit". That's the main reason I watch no television at all. DVDs are the only things I watch on my Tv monitor these days (and it has no antenna or cable plugged in).

I'm the same exact way. The only things I ever watch on TV anymore is SportsCenter, Adult Swim on Cartoon Network and Conan O'Brien. Just about everything else is crap to me. Thank goodness for my extensive anime collection.

Before I discuss the topic at hand, I would like to write a little look back on what led up to it.

MTV, founded in 1981... They showed music videos that were pretty much live concerts... a year later Duran Duran rolled in with it's cinematic video play, inspiring many to make spendy and purdy vids. (And that they had!)

85' I remember they have fully expanded nationwide with cable. MTV being the #1 reason for musical sponsoring. By the 90s', let us just say everything was slowely going to hell. the dawn of garbage Seattle slime, The Real World, and the rise of baby faced popcorn "VJ's." It was slowley coming to a point to make you puke!

Towards the later 90s' and 00s' they only ran music videos in the noon, and at night. The rest was filled with "insane TV shows."

Now don't get me wrong, back in the 80s' there was a show that aired on rare occasiouns called "Scared Straight," but it really was the only show aired next to behind the scenes Pink Floyd concert coverage.

And to finally rest, I will only say that MTV was never meant for videos nor anything good, but cheesy pop propaganda to lure teenagers and young adults of each generation out of thier money, and out of their brains. I watch VH1 classic and all they run is 80s' so it's all cool. MTV came a long way before it really went. And since it's run by one of the biggest monopoly's on earth (Viacom), that channel will never die... Or change...

I took the liberty of removing off-topic posts from this thread. Especially considering the level of the grammar in them.

There's only one reality TV show you need... Cops.

Aside from that, pretty much the only thing I watch on MTV is Dave Chappelle.
