Swing your arms from side to side. Come on, it's time to go, do the Mario! Take one step, and then again, let's do the Mario all together now! Just like that!
"Doubt'll be the fire of your delight and she's never gonna come back down to have a pop song on the five and she's never gonna come back down to grab the T-shirt off the line and she's never gonna come back down. I think she's murderously sly and she's never gonna come back down." - BT

I watched a VHS tape I had for awhile that featured Rodney Rod Piper episode with several animated segments (including one where they met the "Beatles"). It really hasn't aged very well.

Then again, alot of 80's cartoons haven't aged well at all if you take off the nostalgia-tainted glasses. Just compare the old TMNT cartoon with the new one airing on Fox Box.

Then you better take off those nostalgia glasses and pick up the new DVDs that came out. They really just pale in comparison to the new show. The original mini-series isn't really quite bad, but in the second season (which is the beginning of the actual series), the show becomes way too silly. The Turtles' entire dialogue consist of nothing but puns and Shredder is a joke of a villian.

The new cartoon is much closer to the original Mirage Studios' comics too. The only thing bad about it was the revelation that...
Spoiler:
...Oroku Saki was actually an Utrom (one of those Krang-like creatures in the new show).

Well, the first film was actually quite close to the original comics than the sequels. The only difference was that April was a news reporter (much like in the old cartoon) instead of Baxter's assistance.

They have the entire first issue on the official TMNT website:

I knew the old comics were more violent but I wasn't expecting this.
But it still doesn't explain why the Donatello toys were brown.
And there is one show that the 80's version was better Transformers (at least until the movie afterwards the series went downhill).

Actually, the skin tone of each of the turtles were different in the Playmates toys, with Don being olive green. That and the color-coordinated headbands were conceived by Playmates to make each character distinguishable. In the original comics, the turtles all wore red.

I don't remember much about the 80's series, but Beast Wars was alright and included several nods to the old show. Beast Machines on the other hand...

I bet I could've been a great person if I hadn't spent my childhood rotting my mind on devoid "children's" programming. And continue to do so to this day.

I hate to take this topic out of bounds more, but to string to Gin and Johnny's discussion...

I think the new Turtles series sucks, the newer comics suck, and everything fat cat marketing has been trying to do, to bring back the magic of the 80s'. The equilibrium of brining back the 80s' to a crappy growing post modernist society is like George dick head Lucas leaving out the possibilities of HAN SHOOTING FIRST on the Star Wars IV - VI DVD set...

Why can't people leave the sacred magic formulas alone?
