Just got this working. I'm typing while the intro plays on my PSP. The emulation is perfect. You have to have the BIOS files to run a Sega CD/Mega CD game, but I trust most of you have those.
A version of this was released on the GP2X a while ago, and that was my only reason to keep the machine. Now that it's out on the PSP, I could probably sell the thing.

That... Is so awesome... I am totally jealous!!!!!!!!
I've been wanting to play Snatcher on a portable device, like on my DS or my PSP for like, forever! But i'm just guessing that i can't play this on MY psp, seeing that i have one of the more recently released firmwares installed. And i'm not really in the mood to try and hack it back to an older firmware. If the machine broke, i wouldn't have the cash to buy a new one anytime soon...
Oh well, i guess it wasn't meant to be...
But that video with the pulled out memory stick was hillarious!

I've been lurking around the forums for a few months now, but I just wanted to say that having tried this a little while ago I can say for certain that the game runs at 100% speed (really just confirming what the OP said). Which is quite beautiful really, it made my day.

Snatcher's pretty big with all the MP3s and everything. Don't buy anything under 1GB. I've got a 4GB and with PlayStation and Mega CD emulation, even that's not big enough any more.
Well, i don't think i wanna go through the hassle of playing homebrew on my PSP again. I used to do so earlier, with GTA Vice City, and it was a pain in the ass, and only NES and ScummVM worked properly.
But i've been thinking of getting one of those GP2X. Sounds like a sweet machine on paper. Does anyone have any recommendations to offer, or any insight if it's any good at all? Like, how does the different emulators run?

Honestly the PSP's emulation is good enough that I don't know why anybody would bother with something like that. The only thing the PSP doesn't do so well is the N64 and the SNES (though SNES is about 90%, 100% with some tweaking). Honestly, it worth looking into again if you've been out of the scene for awhile.
Nevermind that everything is so easy that a chimp could do it =x

Now that Mega CD emulation is on the PSP, as well, the GP2X has absolutely no advantage over a PSP with custom firmware.
The GP2X runs on either 2 AA batteries or a power-adaptor. The port for the power adaptor is in a really awkward place (under the player's right-hand). Without good rechargeable AAs, it's an awkward affair. It's also terribly cheap-feeling, with a joke of a D-pad/Analogue stick.
Despite being designed for homebrew, unlike the PSP, the PSP is much better at it, as it's a much more powerful machine. The machine also has better PSone support than any emulator I've seen on the PC.
If you buy a PSP, you'll go through a couple hours of annoyance trying to get the thing set-up (there's plenty of helpful tutorials available, but things can go wrong despite this), but the pay-off's completely worth it. It's a much better option than getting a GP2X. Even if you didn't own a PSP already, I'd recommend one of those with Custom Firmware above a GP2X.
If you're still interested in getting a GP2X, despite my advice, I'm considering selling mine, as I have very little use for it, now. (I always regret selling consoles at a later date, but I can't see why I'd feel any need to play the thing again)
hi everyone
i was equally excited as you, but i must say
snatcher hangs in picodrive at the start of the first mission (flying to factory)
although i only got one bios file for each region
(if someone knows a fix for that, tell us here)

Welcome to the forums. I can assure you that Snatcher does work past this point on the PSP. I'm nearly on Act 3 in my save. It sounds like the emulator is having trouble finding the MP3 files. Make sure you've arranged your Snatcher files like I have in the attached screen shot. You should have 20 MP3 files, all with the same name as your BIN file, but with a number at the end (from 02-21). Don't worry about the Snatcher.CUE, as that's just a save file. Once you do this, try again, but I recommend starting the game over again, as you would have missed the full intro last time.
PS: If I make a topic, with the same information, can someone turn it into a sticky? So many people have made a bad impression on their first post by complaining about how the game stops on the ride to the abandoned factory on emulators.

It's little things like this that make me wish I had a PSP. C'mon, a portable PSX is what we all wanted back in 2000, but the size of a CD just made that impossible.
So that and maybe 5 games make me want a PSP. So mostly this.
EDIT: Ah, SegaCD version, not the Japanese PSX. Either way, font easily readable, etc?
Woah, the GP2X sounds like a real yipp... Too bad, it seemed so good on paper...
But anyway, i've come up with a new plan. I've been thinking of trading in my old PSP for a new PSP Slim & Lite. But instead, i could save up my money, and just buy the new one, without trading in my old one. Then i can downgrade the old one, and use it for Snatcher, and other emus.
So then, i'll be the cool kid on the block with TWO PSPs... Either that, or the IDIOT on the block...

I'm pretty sure if I had two PSPs, one of them wouldn't get used. The barely-different size, and TV output of the Slim & Lite has justified a purchase for a lot of people, but I'm not one of them.
The way i see it, if i had two PSPs (one old and one Slim), i would probably use the Slim one for regular games, pics and movies. And the old one would strictly be for emu and homebrew. I use enough of all those factors, so both machines would probably be used quite frequently.
But that's just me. Lots of people find there are very little enjoyable games for the PSP, and i can't blame them. I'm just lucky that i managed to find a few good games, and i'm really looking forward to Final Fantasy Chrisis Core, and the God Of War game. And of course Portable Ops 2 if they make a sequel.

custom firmware? Never thought about that... How would one get something like that, and how does it work? Do i need a certain game to use it, like with the older homebrew and the GTA game?
