Silly post:My theory of a US Snatcher TV commercial from '94

Post by JunkerMike »

I was thinking about all those Sega CD commercials from the early 90's that had that black guy who'd always come on to somebody's TV screen and yell at them and then reach his hand through the TV and give them a CD to play on the Sega CD. I've been thinking about what it would've been like if they had made one for Snatcher:

*Commercial begins with some kid watching some bad sci-fi movie for 4 seconds, then the black guy comes on screen*

Black Guy:Don't tell me you're actually enjoying this garbage!

Kid:No?

Black Guy:Here! *reaches through the TV screen and hands him a CD*

*shows the shot of the lid closing on the tray and shows various clips of the game*

Narrator:It's an action packed thrill ride. You can't trust anybody, not even yourself. In Snatcher, the Cyberpunk Adventure.

*switches to an explosion coming out of the TV and the kid falls back in the chair he's sitting in, then the kid turns his head to his dad with a robot head, and it says "WELCOMETOTHENEXTLEVEL" on the wall or something else. If you know any better, tell me. Then it cuts to a black background with the game logo for 2 seconds, then cuts to close up of the robot dad saying "SEGA!", then cuts to the Konami logo for the last two seconds*

Sorry guys. Don't mean to spam or anything. Just a goofy little idea I came up with that was just for fun or a laugh or whatever. Remember, this commercial's intended to look bad. If there really was a commercial like that in the US, Kojima would've been laughing his ass off at how hysterically bad it was.

Right. My bad. *feels stupid* But I meant like a teenager though, like 15 years old, maybe.

Was there any age-restriction on the American version? The PAL was rated 18+.

That's surprised me, actually. I know that the highly graphic scenes were few and far between, but they were much more visually intense and realistic than the more infamous nineties early games like Mortal Kombat.
