I've never played this game but I recently stumbled across a review of this game on youtube. I think JESUS might have been a major influence on Snatcher after skimmingthrough some of a playthrough.
JESUS came out for the PC-88 in April 1987. That's a year and half before Snatcher's release on the PC-88 on November 26, 1988.
JESUS is a sci fi mystery adventure heavily influenced by Ridley Scott's ALIEN film. Snatcher is a Sci Fi Mystery Adventure game that is heavily influenced by Ridley Scott's Blade Runner film.
A small robot sidekick that helps you solve mysteries in both games!

The two games just sound andt feel similar-

Was JESUS a Giant influence on Snatcher or were all Japanese adventure games kinda like this at the time?
Thoughts?

Naturally being the obnoxiously anal person I am, I feel this needs mentioning...
FOJY isn't the small rabbit-type mascot character in the PC88 version. He looks more like an earpiece.nickdaring wrote:...A small robot sidekick that helps you solve mysteries in both games!

What is really frustrating about JESUS is that you have to double-check every room and every menu button. Snatcher has this too, but only in a few scenes.

Interesting info regarding the robot!
Found more info here regarding the differences between the pc88 and famicom versions here- http://pixelmenu.22web.org/features/jesus/jesus2.html
That explains why the rabbit style robot isn't walking around with you in the PC88 version.
Looks like the Famicom version came out on March 17, 1989. The Pc88 version of Snatcher in November 26, 1988. Five months before JESUS on the Famicom. Could it be that the success of Snatcher influenced the release of the Famicom port of JESUS? Is that enough time to affect the porting process of JESUS? That would be interesting to find out!
I need to sit down and play some of this game one day.

It could be, but according to this interview, the PC-88 version wasn't popular, but it remained cult among the gamers long enough for Konami to make the home console versions.
