These threads are so painfully difficult for me to respond to, that I usually just post a few groups that I am listening to now, in no particular order. That is exactly what I intend to do here.

Army of Freshmen
One of the punk spin-off bands, heavy on the synth and backup vocals. A personal favorite, although it's not what I'd call 'intelligent' music.
- Bulletproof in Baggy Jeans
- Here in the Fan
- Light in the Sky
- Last Dance
- Uniforms

Fangoria
Spanish dance/techno. I like some of their songs a lot, but other than that they're kind of hit or miss.
- Retorciendo Palabras
- Nadie Mejor que tú
- Hoy Aquí, mañana vete
- La Diferencia entre la fe y la ciencia

Joy Electric
Christian band, used to be two people, but now it's just one guy and his enormous pile of synthesizers. If you like his style, then just about every song he's ever produced is incredible.
- Hansel
- We are Rock
- Buttercup Fairy
- The North Sea (this song haunts me)
- Drum Machine Joy

Yuki Kajiura
She did the soundtracks to the Japanese shows Noir, .Hack, Acquarian Age, and the game Xenosaga Ep. 2, so if you're an anime fan, there's a pretty good chance you have run across her. Highly recommended.
- Canta Per Me
- Salva Nos
- Key of the Twilight
- Cynical World
- Zodiacal Sign

Tears for Beers
A German/Irish rock band does covers of traditional Irish folksongs. Tons of fun to play the drums to. :)
- Black is the Color
- Step it out Mary
- Star of the Country Down
- Cruel Sisters
- Drunken Sailor (greatest drinking song ever)

Well, there's five... hope someone finds something they like!

Steely Dan
1. Reelin' in the Years
2. Turn that heartbeat over again
3. Kid Charlemagne
4. Haitian Divorce
5. Peg

Al DiMeola
1. Mediterranean Sundance
2. The Wizard
3. Elegant Gypsy Suite
4. Suite-Golden Dawn
5. Land of the Midnight Sun

Eric Clapton
1. White Room
2. I Shot the Sheriff
3. Crossroads
4. Cocaine
5. Wrapping Paper

Jimi Hendrix
1. Fire
2. Hey Joe
3. All along the Watchtower
4. Foxy Lady
5. Voodoo Chile

Tears for Fears
1. Pale Shelter
2. Everybody wants to rule the World
3. Head over Heels
4. I Beleive
5. Shout

I would just have to squeeze a mention of the Beatles in there, the earlier albums would be my favorites, Abbey Road and The White Album being my favorite of the later albums.
