I have my PS3 and a LCD monitor with HDMI DVI VGA inputs
My monitor says it supports analog and digital RGB. So does
that mean I can get rgb cables for my PS3 and get a digital
to analog converter that plugs into the VGA port and have
it run? If so would there be a big quality drop?

Yes I know PS3 to hdmi ftw. But it isnt working so I want to
see if I can go in through the menu on rgb and tell it to use
the hdmi. Dont mention the reset shit, I tried it all. This will
be my last resort before I sell my monitor... my brand new
sweet monitor =,,(

If possible anyone know of a monitor or tv with hdmi dvi rgb and
svideo?

yeah, LG got some nice models.
But right now, you can get a 32" samsung TV for 338 €, not so bad.
What resolution have you tried?
Do you get the message:out of range?

With a digital to analog converter you probably mean an upscaler or a transcoder, right?

And which kind of RGB does your monitor take? In that case we were talking about RGB-21, a Japanese only standard.

There is no such thing as digital RGB, since RGB's name refers to the separation of the colors in different signals. Or if you prefer, all digital video is RGB since it is data by itself. So you probably mean HDMI.

And it seems you want to output HDMI and transcode that to VGA, right?

Why don't you just simply go analog all the way instead of transcoding? Output via component cable sto the monitor, and if the monitor has no component video, get a Component to VGA box.

Oh wow I found a componet to 1080p vga for $30
http://cgi.ebay.com/Transcoder-HD-Box-1 ... 7C294%3A50
I can only hope this will work on my monitor and PS3
they are having a handshake issue through hdmi the
screen goes black and thats it. The ps3 is putting out
480i and my monitor supports it but no go. Its also hdcp
compatible.... So Im hoping it might work on componet.
If not I will try and sell my monitor.... QQ

Can anyone suggest a good monitor or tv with hdmi, dvi, s-video and componet? I cant find any at newegg except 1 that costs $1400 XP Im looking at a price range of $300-maybe $500 if I'm able to sell my monitor.

How Can I Connect a Laptop with a VGA Output to a LCD TV with no VGA Input? I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 6000 and a Sharp 32" Aquos LCD TV. How do I connect the two? I've used S-Video and it works but the quality is terrible because S Video is using 680x480. The best I understand is VGA to VGA but in my case the LCD has no VGA input. Can I use a VGA to RGB Component Cable? Or VGA to DVI-I than DVI-I to HDMI? Can anyone help me?

I guess you best option is a VGA to Component box... since VGA to HDMI would imply digitizing the signal, which could mean more cost and less quality involved.

If your laptop could output DVI-D, it would be another story. but the thing is that you output analog video via VGA and HDMI is a digital format.
