What Will Kojima's New IP Be Like?
Just wanting to ask something for the fellow fans here; what original IP do you think Kojima will do next? I don't include Project S or anything ZOE into this, or anything Metal Gear, I mean, what will his next new project be like do you feel? He mentioned in an interview not so long ago that it would be an action title. What kind of story will it have?
I'm going to start off with the safe bets; that it shall be a cinematic science fiction/surrealistic thriller and be crammed full of twists.
...Or perhaps he shall surprise me and make say, a fantasy game, like he was originally wanting to do with Lost World during his early development days (or "Lost Warld" as it was originally spelled). Would be a bold new step for him to make, if you ask me.
What do you guys see him doing next?

Hopefully not something heavily influenced by a movie or novel.

By fan influence, you mean how many of Kojima's previous efforts drew influences from 80's science fiction movies, such as Blade Runner (1982), The Terminator (1984), Bubblegum Crisis (1987), Akira, and Lethal Weapon (1987), right?

You left out Escape from LA witch he stole from the biggest. The main characters name in that movie was "Snake Pliskin" and it was splayed by Kurt Russel.snatcher1988 wrote:By fan influence, you mean how many of Kojima's previous efforts drew influences from 80's science fiction movies, such as Blade Runner (1982), The Terminator (1984), Bubblegum Crisis (1987), Akira, and Lethal Weapon (1987), right?

Don't you mean Escape From New York? Escape from L.A. came out in 1996.Commander_AK-47 wrote:You left out Escape from LA witch he stole from the biggest. I actually found the border-line yaoi of Raiden & Vamp more offensive than anything else in that game. That's really the only time I ever felt like fan service was being shoved down my throat. Especially since it wasn't even hinted in the previous game, and Vamp's character get's completely diminished into a "henchman" role in MGS4. I'm surprised not even a little backstory of Vamp was offered, not even in the flashback (press x) style, which would've helped added depth a bit, methinks.
A non-fanboi fan who has a critical eye -edit would do wonders for MGS4's cinematics.

Yea I really didn't like the ending but I did like Vamp returning. All they needed was to give his character more depth like you said.

The perfect ending for the game we saw, to me would be this...Nitroadict wrote:I actually found the border-line yaoi of Raiden & Vamp more offensive than anything else in that game. the credits role and there is a blank, black screen for a moment, you hear a faint voice but are unable to distinguish who it is and what it is saying, then in a first person perspective you see eyes open, and slowly regain focus, the person looks around he's in a simple and modern looking bedroom, he walks down a hall and into a bathroom, you see his hand go out in front of him and open the mirrored cabinet, he takes out a toothbrush and some toothpaste, then you see him turn on the faucet, you hear him brush his teeth, and put his hands in the water and then wash his face the screen's 'eyes' close as he take a towel from a small rack and wipes his face, he looks up into the mirror.... and it's a young (MGS2) snake, you hear the voice again "SNAKE, SNAKE!!!!", he grumbles and walks down a flight of stairs into a room with filled with computers and various gadgets, otacon is sitting in a chair typing up a storm,
Otacon: so how did you sleep?
Snake: well great until you woke me up, you know with this mug I need all the beauty sleep I can get...
Otacon: Well, any interesting dreams?
Snake: Actually, now that you mention it... there where two... one was set in, what seemed to be 1960's Russia...
Otacon: and the other?
Snake: Well it started out in the middle east, seems like everyone I ever knew was in it... some pretty ridiculous stuff happened too.
Otacon: well anyway's I found some new info regarding where the Patriots are keeping Olgas child....
and the screen fades to black.
lmao

Good lord it's amazing how much the face palm comes in handy.
Anyways, back on topic. While I kind of like the idea of Kojima doing something with Snatcher, I think I'd much rather see him do something completely new, plus if he did something new he wouldn't have the chance to fuck up Snatcher.

So it's perfectly okay for you to praise MGS4 but it isn't okay for me to bitch about it, or even make an obvious fanboy joke? I'm stopping this here, no one needs a flame war and we should get this thread back on topic.Commander_AK-47 wrote:Its a joke well over used by you and its not warranted when I am being serious.
I have high hopes for whatever Kojima comes up with next, it'd be cool to see his take on different genre's. A Kojima RPG, for example, would probably be the most ridiculous thing ever.

No you not sliding out of this, I have not ever praised MGS4, if I have I have explained and retracted it. You on the other hand keep bringing up your disappointment in MGS4, in almost every thread your in.

Re: What Will Kojima's New IP Be Like?
You said this in resplonse to thw "what is the best Kojima game thread":Commander_AK-47 wrote:No you not sliding out of this, I have not ever praised MGS4, if I have I have explained and retracted it. quote="Commander_AK-47"]I say MGS4. Its true that it had some story anomalies like EVA having as big a role as he did and getting the same wound from MGS3 over again (Which was a little overkill if you ask me) and in some peoples opinion. But it had a solid story and nice ending. I loved it none the less.[/quote]
Also this:
And when it comes down to it, when I bitch about MGS4, it's always meant to be taken light-heartedly, it's why when I do 'bitch' about it I go so overboard with what I'm saying (saying Kojima needs to be beaten, saying kojima needs to offically say that the game is non canon, and making up a ridiculous ending for an example), It's not meant to be seriously, again which is why when I say things like that I do it in a way which is so over the top and ridiculous, they're supposed to be kind of commentary on the fanboyism of games, if you will. What I mean by that is, while people will love the game others will hate it because of the fan service, but then go and whine about how 'they' should be the one to remake the game and how they want certain things in the game and how it should have had this and that, which ironically would be.... fan service. That's why I say things like that in such a way. I understand that it kind of loses it's power when it's typed. Not only all that, but it's also funny when people take things like that so seriously and go on a personal crusade to against whoever said anything bad about the game.Commander_AK-47 wrote:the story developed very well.
Anyways, if you really want to argue about this than we can do it over PM's I don't want to clutter up this thread anymore.
