Snatcher: The Final Cut

I don't know how many of you bothered with the latest, huge Kojima Productions Report (#75, btw) but at one point the team discussed the idea of a "Final Cut" version of Snatcher. This would contain elements of all the different versions of the game, alongside a new localised script and maybe other new gameplay/plot elements. While this doesn't serve as any type of announcement of a project, or even an element of Project 'S', it's an interesting concept.
I thought it was worth bringing up for discussion over here, due to the near universally positive reaction to the new version of Blade Runner. Personally, I really like Jeremy Blaustein's version of the Snatcher script, and I'm not too wild about the recent MGS translations, but it would be interesting to see a new take on it. I'd certainly buy any new version of Snatcher, but I don't know if it could replace my Mega CD copy.
What do you think about it?

I'm sure Blaustein will be thrilled to hear that! He's honestly going to think they hate his guts or something.
I'd be more interested in that type of project than an entirely new Snatcher, to be honest. I suppose they would revert the date changes, maybe some or all of the name changes, add in some or all of the deleted material, and probably redo the text and voice if they're changing dates and names. I'd actually like to see the interface be more like Policenauts, where you click on objects with a cursor and have full control over the gun in shooting scenes.
But would it sell enough copies to make it a smart investment?

If the box had "From the makers of Metal Gear Solid" plastered all over it, it'd probably do at least as well as the most recent Castlevania.

We've been citing that reason for the last 10 years, so it'd be pretty annoying if they finally woke up and did it only now.

I was terribly surprised for them to talk about Snatcher...came out of nowhere, perhaps there's been lots of talks about Snatcher lately behind closed doors, which is why Ryan wanted to get it off his chest? (Since it was apparent, the way he talked about it, that he was a fan himself, like suggesting a 'Final Cut' for instance).
I'd prefer a new game as well, rather than a Final Cut, but beggars can't be choosers, either would be grand, as long as they don't shit all over Blaustein's original script (not too many changes).

Wait a minute. Wasn't "The final cut" version of Snatcher the PC Engine version?

It may not be a new game, but this would be the greatest news ever for me. Ive been waiting for years to get a fix for new snatcher stuff... So i honestly hope this happens and PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD RELEASE IT IN THE US! they must know that snatcher has a pretty strong fanbase in the us!

Remember, Blaustein did not translate Sega CD Snatcher, a man named Scott T. Hards did. Jeremy went through it and did stuff like the date changes, the name changes, etc- localization. Personally I think the translation is pretty run-of-the-mill by today's standards. A little rough in some places, and it dips into Engrish in some parts. The voice acting is still fantastic, but the script itself could easily be bettered. If they remade Snatcher with a fresh translation, I'm certain it would be better than the Sega CD version. Heck, all they would need to do is to get Jeremy to translate it himself, instead of just editing it like he did last time.

It was never explicitly billed as such, but since it's the last and most polished version of the game that Kojima directed, people like to think of it as a Director's Cut.

Heh heh, not yet.

Quote Harrison Ford:
Like Indiana Jones, "Nows the time"
We're not getting any younger, Kojima isn't getting any younger, MGS4 has Snatcher and Policenauts references from here to Outer Heaven.
Question is:
Why DOESN'T it have the go ahead?

Is it not really allowed to post on old threads? (I hope I'm not breaking a rule by posting this)

Bumping old threads is just fine around here. I don't see what the big deal is.

Nah, I was just curious. I've been on videogaming forums a few times where they didn't allow posting on anything over a couple months old (without activity).
