Was just thinking about some titles and how many come of the production line qty wise, and just thought " does anyone know roughly how many copies there are for any system version? Really tough question I know but I would just like to get an idea of whether Konami really tried to push the game on the market or was a bit lazy with it's marketing at the time.

Snatcher is extremely rare.... Jeremy Blaustein (one of the localizers) gave some unbelieveable number for the units created for North America... Was it like... 200? I can't remember lol...

If it's 200 in North America, I dread to think what the number will be for Europe.

Jeremy said (on the TUS podcast interview):

- "I don't think it was anywhere near 2000 [...] maybe we've might have forced the US to buy 2000 off of us..."

- "The sell through... I don't think it was more than 367..." (laughs)

So he knows there are more than 367 copies, but says that he believes that sales were no more than that. Which only means official sales that counted for the numbers around release date. Other than that it is sales bins and returns that might have been sold elsewhere, or *gasp* destroyed. Maybe even still stored somewhere *grin*

Anyway, I believe it would be great to have a list of owners so we can have an approximate idea... Let's get this started.

I own two copies of the NA version, one sealed.
One copy of the UK release.

1 PAL Mega CD version.

I have the Saturn version too, but that's beyond the point.

I don't know how many copies there are in general, but here's how I think the rarity scale for each version of Snatcher would be:

Snatcher (PC-8801): Beyond rare
Snatcher (MSX): Very rare
SD Snatcher: Very rare
Snatcher (PC-Engine): Almost common
Snatcher (Sega CD): Almost common, but even more expensive on Ebay alone than even the PC Engine version.
Snatcher (Playstation): Common
Snatcher (Saturn): Very common

I wouldn't rate them as very rare and beyond rare. Of course I understand your rating based solely on ebay, where they seldomly list the PC-8801 and MSX versions. There are always MSX versions on yahoo auctions japan. regarding SD, I believe enough were produced, but they are in high esteem due to the sound card they have. I also know that the PC-Engine version is way more common than the Sega CD one, and that the Mega CD one is even more rare than the US counterpart.

I snagged mine from two separate sales, one lonely game disc on amazon, and one lonely case on ebay.

So technically this would indicate two copies. (meaning I have some sort of chimera SNATCHER, lol)

So, I have one complete copy of USA SNATCHER for SCD, from two separate copies missing their respective parts on separate sides of the country.
