Does G4 hate this game or something???

EVERY TIME G4 mentioned Kojima, or had some segment about him on a show of theirs made up of several segments, all they do is mention MG! Even in the G4 Icons show about him, all they talked about was MG, and the briefly mentioned Policenauts, but they make it look as if Snatcher never existed! That just pissed me off. It pissed me off so much, I didn't even watch the whole thing. That's how angry it made me.

I'd call it ignorance. If they mention NOTHING but the MGS series, and none of his other works, it's got to be that they just don't know.

Yeah, probably. I'm still annoyed that they'd leave it out though.

Wait, I kind of rushed through your original post...so they mentioned Policenauts too, huh? Then they ARE bastards! Bastards of being ignorant of both Snatcher and the Policenauts translation!

You can say that again!!!!!

What do you expect from a mainstream outlet like them, though? To the mainstream, Kojima=MGS.

But the mainstream who want to discuss Policenauts should at least be aware of the translation, don't you think? Lots of gaming sites and blogs are picking up on it, and magazines too- look at your gamesTM interview!
Hate to get off-topic, but any word on whether or not you can post the excised Q/A's? And how come those screenshots weren't posted online first, where the people who truly love you guys and Policenauts could drool over them first?

Yeah, but that's up to them to chose to do so. We can't force anyone to cover it. And this is kind of a grey area, after all. For all the mags and sites who are covering it, there are plenty who don't want to touch this sort of thing for various reasons, which I'm sure you can think of.
I haven't heard back about the interview, since it's the weekend. It isn't as much as you might be thinking, though. The two main bits were that someone in the voice recording biz has offered to help us gather VAs and record English voices for an English dub, if we chose to do one, and that Konami can have the translation for free if it helped bring the game out outside Japan.
And I know some of you are probably wondering why we didn't post the screenshots here first. The truth is, we hadn't planned on posting any until the game was out. I thought it would be cool to not show anything until you guys got to play it. Then the interview offer came along and they asked if they could have some screenshots for the article, and we thought it would be a great way to unveil the English version.

Well, in that case, I have two questions- will the katakana "Beyond Coast" be left in the final? Because it looks kind of like a rough edge. Also, Jonathan's name in the little box...I think it would look better in a different font. I dunno. Don't shoot me for nitpicking when I'm in absolutely no position to do so.

No, the Japanese place names won't be there in the final. I didn't like the style of Japanese and English place names together in MGS2, and I don't want to do that here.
As for the nametags, as I said in the main thread, we're still looking at that.

I wouldn't call magazines like GamesTM and RetroGamer or sites like Kotaku and Joystiq, "mainstream". They're very much aimed at "hardcore" gamers. GamesTM often has very in-depth features about the politics of the gaming industry, the themes of games and what influence games have. I don't think "mainstream" gamers would want to read that type of stuff, at all.

Another high brow mag I would name is Edge. They're from the same company as GameTM as well. Funny, I thought you'd hear something from them about the translation, it appears not.

GamesTM and RetroGamer both focus on homebrew games and hacks as well as commercial games. Edge seems to focus solely on commercial games. I'm guessing Official PlayStation Magazine were simply running out of stories to write about.

I believe Edge is published by Future, while GamesTM and Retro Gamer are Imagine magazines.
Whatever the case, I was really happy about the OPM story. It showed that maybe more mainstream outlets like it will find a place to cover the project. But we know of several mags who haven't done anything on it so far who have said they want to review it when it's done, in addition to the ones who already have covered it.

G4 wouldn't know good gaming if a copy of Snatcher bit them in the ass.
I hate it when people who have no real knowledge or interest in video games, have highly respectful jobs in the gaming community. They only have it because of their "looks" and "charisma".
I tell ya, i would rather watch the video gaming stereotype, the overweight pimply and "ugly" gaming nerd with an understanding to the gaming community host a show about games, than jerks like the ones from G4.

Take note:I didn't say I DID hate it. I'm saying that stuff like that makes me want to just hate it with a passion and avoid it like the plague.
