I didn't know whether or not to post this here, but since he does soundtrack work for the MGS series... Anyway, yeah, he's done a few tracks on the Ryu ga Gotoku/Yakuza soundtracks. I haven't played this so-called gem of a game yet, but I will soon! It's at #gamemp3s if anyone's interested.[/spoiler]

Oh believe me, it is worth your time. This has got to be the best game I have played from SEGA in 3D, since Rez, without a doubt. It's going quite cheap now as well, so you'd better get a copy soon before it becomes a rare item (same fate as Gungrave).

I haven't a clue, nothing has been said as of yet, but we do know that is didn't sell well, at all. The sequel may become yet another game that people may never see in english, and I will certainly be very annoyed if that is the case, because it does have a great storyline and the gameplay is fantastic.

Who's calling Yakuza a "gem of a game"? From all I've seen of it, it's nothing more than a generic beat'em up and contrived storyline revolving around Japanese gangsters (with a really atrocious English dub). If I want a true yakuza experience, I'll watch a Kinji Fukasaku flick instead.

From what I've played of it, it's more of a Shenmue-esque RPG. That's just after 15 minutes on a demo, mind.

??:
I hate the comparisons to Shenmue, aside from the obvious similarities of the look of the main character and location, ther eis really nothing in common whatsoever. It is much more like Streets Of Rage in 3D to me! It is a moody piece of storytelling throughout as well, definitely the darkest and best game SEGA have done in 3D, without a doubt. The first twenty minutes of the game may suck a bit, but after that, it is a really worthwhile experience which you will cherish for a long time, believe me!

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought that. I always thought Yakuza was more like a sort of Streets of Rage with adventure elements added.

In the end, this game sounds like typical Sega though, something people will either indiscriminately hate or love to death. I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet (I don't want to pay full price for something I'm not sure that I'm going to like and I don't want to rent it), but I hate how it was billed as a Japanese Grand Theft Auto over here.
