I am interested on other's opinions, since Kojima is well known for using actor's appearances in films and using them in his games. I know about Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Joe Pesci, Kurt Russell and Harrison Ford being in Kojima games and which ones. Can anyone tell me anymore? I'm really intrigued, you see.

Let's not forget all the characters in MG2:SS being based on various celebrtities (Sean Connery, Albert Einstein, etc.), and the MetalGear cover being ripped directly from The Terminator.

Although not an actor, the character Victor Jurgens in Policenauts was based on Masahiko Ueno, a former medical examiner in Tokyo.

Is it just me or does Jim Houseman (MGS1) have a huge resemblence with Clint Eastwood?

Yeah, I always thought that myself.

Kojima also said that Gatse Becker from Policenauts was based on Sean Connery.

I don't see much of a resemblence. Maybe it's because of the Anime style artwork, compared to the realistic drawings in the original MSX2 Metal Gear 2 with Sean Connery as Big Boss.

It's as much personality-wise as it is physical.

Joe Pesci = Salvatore Toscanini

Thanks for all of them so far, I agree with Clint Eastwood being Gatse. Also, I agree that Jim Houseman from MGS1 looks like Clint as well.

Who said, that Gatse was based on Clint Eastwood. Osiris said that according to Kojima he's based on Sean Connery.;)

Although I think Clint really looks closer to Gatse than Connery.

Yeah, I was just stating i can see it, since I wouldn't really guess that Harrison Ford looked like Gillian Seed, being brutally honest. He looks far more like Mickey Rourke from Angel Heart, to me (despite how similar to Blade Runner the game is and the intention of the character to look like Harrison), he just looks more like mickey in that film, than he does Harrison in Blade Runner, to me.

Looks like even the Transceiver MG2 Snake was based on Gibson.

Moreover, I forgot to mention Japanese actor Tako Hachiro, whose face served as a model for Decoy Octopus'.

Um, I think Michael Biehn looks far more like Snake in that shot, rather than Gibson.

Note: the transceiver.

Don't forget Charlotte Rampling for the Boss in MGS3, to a certain extent.

^ That's right.

Can't help but wonder who he based Volgin and Sokolov on though either. Perhaps Dolph Lungdren for Volgin? No idea about Sokolov though...

I'm surprised, I never thought the transceiver Snake was based on Mel too and I don't really recognize him on the right picture. Which movie is that from?

It's a photoshoot still from Lethal Weapon 2.
Henry Spencer wrote:No idea about Sokolov though...
Sokolov's life is similar to Andrei Sakharov's.

IMO, Sokolov looks like Kio Marv from MG 2.

Kio Marv? Great suggestion, I do see the similarities actually. Another one; Madnar in MG2 and Victor Jurgens in Policenauts; the appearances are all too similar to me.

The Marv/Sokolov thing is possibly intentional. There's a lot of ridiculous family ties in MGS3 (Otacon's father, Johnny's father, The Boss and The Sorrow being Ocelot's parents, etc.).

Not forgetting, a possible relative of Raiden.

Actually, Sokolov reminds me of Fritz Lang, with his monocle and leather jacket. Of course, so does Big Boss, with his eye patch.

The relationship between Solid and Liquid feels similar to that between Bond and Alec/006 in GoldenEye.

Also, does anybody else think that Otacon looks like David Cronenberg?

Kojima said he gave Sokolov a monocle and a leather jacket to make him look like a gentleman.

According to me, Otacon looks more like the scientist from Stargate (Daniel Jackson I think).

One could also say Jean Jack Gibson looks like Jack Nicholson.

Well i think Otacon looks exactly like Michael Shanks in Stragate SG1 series in end of the 90s.
