Do you really think the number of English speaking people who would import the game on on the basis that it was subtitled would justify the costs of such a translation? Policenauts is nothing like the MGS series; it has a much more limited appeal (how many people do you know that are into graphic-novel esque adventure games?), and was designed with a specific audience in mind.

The game was designed entirely for a Japanese audience; if Konami had wanted to market it worldwide, they would have localized and released the game in different regions. From a business standpoint, subtitling a game on the off chance that fanatics would import it makes absolutely no sense.

How can you say that it was for Japanese gamers only? Why would it only be for Japanese gamers? Can you justify this?

It's only in Japanese and it was released only in Japan. Does that not qualify it as being intended for Japanese? Of course people from other countries will import it, but when the staff were making the game, I don't think they were imagining that legions of foreigners would import it.

At the time of Policenauts? Well, of course he wasn't big name as now.
But yeah, i think he was pretty well known in gaming industry, since almost every of his game was succes. ;)

If you're talking about mine it's still up for grabs, that is if you are willing to go through all those australian money/shipping shenanigans.

Oh, shit, I forgot about that... It costs $35 over here to get the Australian dollar converted into the American dollar... Sorry, Dave, I think I'll pass on this one... Maybe I'll get an oshanka off of eBay.com.au though... Man, I've been hankering for one of those things for ages
