I forgot to bring this up before, but Shiozawa didn't play Mister X in MGS2. That was the actress who played Olga, Kyoko Terase. But, and this is something they didn't do in the English version that I wish they had, the recordings of certain lines of Mister X's are taken straight from MGS1, specifically the Ninja's and the DARPA Chief's. So when she says "I'm like you. I have no name," "Neither enemy nor friend," and "Hurry! Get away!" they used Shiozawa's recordings from MGS1 for those. Then for the DARPA Chief, for "It's called a PAN card. It works together with your body's own electrical field," they use the recording the actor, Masaharu Sato, did for the previous game. I thought that was a neat touch and I was sorry it wasn't in the English version, for whatever reason. Not an homage to the actors, they were used to fit in with the whole notion of the S3 Plan's recreation of Shadow Moses (just how Mister X was originally going to be an AI amalgam of MGS1 characters, as stated in the game plan).
Shiozawa is also credited posthumously for those lines in MGS2 at the end of the cast list in the end credits as
Special Appearance by Kaneto Shiozawa

Wow, yeah I forgot about that. Better get my Japanese copy of the game out again and play it. I would have loved to see what they were going to do with the Ninja from the game plan, wonder why they scrapped that idea? It would have been great, having all of the MGS1 characters making a cameo of sorts.

I'm not sure if this is accurate, but the IMDb page says that he died on May 10, 2000:

Well I was asking, because up until now, I thought it was only recently that he died. I hadn't known that he was dead for 7 years prior to finding that.

Another MGS voice actor has died. Shinji Nakae died of hepatocellular carcinoma on June 28th. He was 73. He played President Johnson in MGS3, and also Schultz in the MGS radio play. He also provided the narration for many Nintendo TV commercials in Japan.

Man, this is one depressing topic, jeez. The guy narrated also all of the various Masked Rider series, for those of you that were fans.
