what about MGS3? Is it the same there?
Well, since Integral then.
Nope, they stopped making that with MGS3 to begin with.

"Why do you think I chose Ocelot as my host?", Liquid said that after he took over Ocelots mind on top of Arsenal Gear...could it be that this is some kind of translation mistake, how should he chose Ocelot as his host when he was...well...dead? What's the exact translation from the japanese version of this line?

A literal translation is, "That's why I infected Ocelot's arm" ("infected" meaning invaded him, like a parasite invading a host).

I think Ocelot lost the plot. Sorry, it had to be said.

First of all it's not because it's in Japanese (The Japanese VO for Otacon was amazing!) It's because it doesn't fit the character. I've always thought of Snake as a tough-as-nails mercenary in terms of personality. Otsuka doesn’t deliver that at all. His voice is too deep, it's extremely over the top and he lacks that gruff quality that Hayter's voice has. I think that overall Hayter did a much better job of portraying the character. (Just my opinion.)
Amazing! That is the worst use of logic and opinion I've seen on this forum. Hayter was best in MGS, but from that point on, he seemed to be doing a bad immitation of his original Snake voice. Even at his worst, however, he is average. I don't think you understand Snake's character much. There's such thing as depth, you know.

Apologies aren't necessary, because you're absolutely right. If anything was dead weight in MGS2, it was Liquid's arm and Otacon's revelation of the affair he had with his step-mother. Had both of those unnecessary subplots been removed, it definitely would've boosted MGS2 considerably.

^ It was a pun, But I do agree, although I think Ocelot has literally lost his mind (my theory), we'll see though.

A pun? No, that was not in any way a pun.
