what cable are you talking about? All you need is the network adapter, an internet connection, and a cat 5/6 (whatever) ethernet cable. And they have to sell ethernet cables there.

It's pretty easy to setup the connection, especially with Metal Gear Online. All I had to do was plug in the cord, go through the setup wizard, and within five minutes I was in a match.

after looking further into this, i found out that you need some form of format disc for some games to play online and i was wondering weather or not metal gear subsitence is one of these types of games.

The disc is packed in with the slim PS2 (which has a built-in modem) or the stand alone modem for the old PS2.

I don't have that disc, and have no problem connecting with any ps2 software, since each of them has the settings program included.

Subsistence has the online configuration stuff built in. You don't need the official Sony setup disc that comes with the slimline PS2 at all.

Fogleus,

I live in Australia also, and I have the PS2 adaptor... Though I don't mean to brag, my broadband is extremely fast, and yet the internet gaming capabilities on PS2 are crap. It's painstakingly slow, online gameplay lags a lot and, overall it's just not worth the 30 dollars from EB Games.

Save your hard-earned and save for the PS3. It'll have GREAT online play.
