A Snatcher remake would've looked good in old DNF engine...

Post by Ravey »

Duke Nukem Forever at the time of the E3 trailer of 2001 used the Unreal 1 engine and it was pretty much one of the best games I had seen at the time. Everything was interactive and the characters looked great, way ahead of most games in my opinion and had that movie-like feeling that most games seem to lack.

After recently getting into Snatcher, I think the old Duke Nukem Forever engine would've been perfect for a remake whether it was done by fans or by another company. It's a shame that it was left behind and now they are working with the newer unreal engine, which will probably take away from the game more than add to it. If it is ever released that is, it's expected to be released for late 2005 but really that is 'when it's done'.

Robot from the trailer looked alot like a Snatcher to me. Duke Nukem Forever had a unique look to it...

What do you guys think?

Or they could be aping the actual T-800 exoskeleton from Termination, which was the basis for the Naked Snatchers in the first place.

Yes, I was just saying that's how it would look like in the DNF engine. I've still got hope for the newer version being made. It would be awesome if they remade the E3 2001 trailer with the new engine.

snatcher "re-make"

Post by el_ash »

I remember that footage and images, I was a HUGE fan of Duke 3D.....guess there is no Forever.....they really fucked up not releasing the game years ago!

I was using the Unreal 1 engine that was modifided for use for the game "Deus Ex", that game felt like "Snatcher" should have played if it was 3-D, so I was using that engine and Unreal Ed for my original "Snatcher" MOD or re-make (whatever you want to call it?).

 I'm currently messing around with the Source Engine (Half-Life 2's engine) for the newest incarnation of my "Snatcher" MOD, the game has the most fluid and lifelike "facial animations" etc.! ...It's going to be amazing....but since it's JUST ME at the moment working on the project.....and since this MOD is not my entire life (sorry) ....it may take forever.....but not as long as the Duke has been taken, I think duke nukem took a vaction after the last duke game and was killed by some aliens and 3D-realms doesn't want to break the news to the fans....hehehehehe.
"DAMN SNATCHERS!"

Hope that works out for you. It's a pity when modders end up giving up on projects like this.
